TLC for the Enlightened Neurotic

April 26th, 2011

A Body, Mind, Soul Liberation Banquet

A Monthly Gathering to Celebrate Who We are and Who We are Called to Become

Every month I will host a gathering at Dreaming Forest Farm in Philomath, Oregon or an online group “Yumfest”.  We’ll start with TLC for ourselves, loving and forgiving our trespasses, so we can get unstuck and enjoy the flow of our lives. Once we feel yummy and safe, we will practice Trusting, Listening, and Courageous Action–another kind of TLC.  We will practice trusting Faith instead of Fear, Creativity instead of Fear of Looking Silly.  We’ll practice embracing Discipline and let go of trying to beat ourselves into shape with Will Power.

We will practice listening deeply to ourselves and honoring what we hear.  We will listen to each other, assuming positive intent.  We will listen to our world with curiosity.  We will want to know what is true because the truth does set us free.

We’ll practice Courageous Action by stepping out of our comfort zones as much as we can in that moment.  We will courageously entertain new ideas about ourselves and our limitations.  Maybe we can sing, dance, do math , and learn to use technology creatively and playfully.

Want to join us in person or online?  Contact me at vicki@outrageousvisions.com for more information.  If you are feeling an inkling or nudge to do this right now in your body, honor that urge.  You are not committing to anything.  Your curiosity is peaked and you are willing to lean in and see what happens next.  You are alive and growing and it feels GOOD!

More About TLC for the Enlightened Neurotic

It’s all about liberation. We will never be perfect, free from our pettiness, nastiness, self doubt, and cowardice. But we can become freer and enjoy the process, laughing at ourselves and our most human foibles.  We will always have our tendencies, our default behaviors, and our personality quirks. If we are waiting to be happy until we are pure enlightenment, then we will die earlier than we would have because we will be focusing on the wrong things.

We can’t be perfect, but we can set ourselves free every day.  We can learn to laugh at ourselves while we practice strategies that bring more joy, love and LIFE into our lives. The best any of us will ever do is to be aware of our “stuff” but not let it control us.  “There I go again,” we will say to ourselves with love and humor.  “Aren’t I so human? Aren’t I adorable in my messiness? I wonder what can I do instead of this knee-jerk response that will give me more freedom, love, and joy?” Once we commit to liberation instead of perfection, we are on a Grand Adventure.  We get to play with What Comes Next instead of being a victim of What is Being Done to Us.

So I am writing a book: TLC for the Enlightened Neurotic: A Body, Mind, Soul Liberation Banquet. It’s going to be fun, funny, outrageous, inspiring, liberating, surprising, and enlightening. “Ha!  Take that Self Doubt.  Ptooie!  I spit on you!”

This is why I’m starting a monthly play-shop for people who want to have more fun and less fear in their body, mind, and spirit.  Together, we will liberate ourselves, so we can fully enjoy this grand adventure we call Life.

We will explore the Body-Mind-Soul Liberation Banquet.  We will move, write, tell stories, play, laugh, and become more outrageously alive however that looks for us in the moment.  We will trust Divine Perfection and stop complaining and postponing our joy, and making excuses.  We will forgive ourselves, giving ourselves absolution as we accept our flaws with humor and grace.

We will learn to trust discipline instead of will power. We won’t bully ourselves into anything.  Instead, we will invite ourselves to take consistent, persistent action which moves us forward and sets us free.

We will discover parts of ourselves that have remained hidden.  We will join hands on the Playground of the Soul and jiggle ourselves into a sense of optimism, gratitude, and creativity.

Don’t live in the Corvallis, Oregon area?  Email me and I will start an online group. You do have to be present to win, but you don’t have to have your body in the same location as mine to play with all this lovely liberating fun stuff.
